Residential Housing Program

This program is for foster kids ageing out of the system at the age of 18.

We have found not only is there a need for housing for this age group but they are also in need of emotional and mental support.

The support they need stems from going from survival mode, and or living in the system, to turning 18. At this point, most 18-year-olds are asked to leave their current foster home and thus become fully responsible for themselves.

Once on their own with extraordinarily little knowledge of life skills and in most cases having yet to graduate high school, they lack a stable environment, which often results in homelessness.

Our program consists of not only housing but also the building of a support system specific to each youth.

Housing will come from donations to lease and purchase residential property. Once housing is obtained and stable, the work begins. We will coach/teach foster kids an array of life skills, including emotional and mental health as both are important components of this program.

Our hope is to give foster kids a place to live while they are becoming adults and figuring out the first phase of their lives.

The result of being a participant of Bennett Place is a hopefully happy, adjusted young adult, who is continuing their education and/or working, paying their bills, has a place to live and is breaking the cycle.
